State Advocacy
The COS is your strongest ally and the only statewide association committed to effecting positive change for the orthopaedic community and patients.
COS is the voice of the orthopaedic community with policymakers, regulators and insurers advocating on issues affecting your patients, your practice, and orthopaedic medicine.
The COS continues to be increasingly involved with the CT Legislature as the number of bills and regulations increase each year and significantly impacts orthopaedic surgeon's ability to practice medicine and deliver quality health care to their patients.
While this past 2020 legislative session was interrupted and disrupted by the pandemic, the COS continued to lobby for sensible health care reforms, Covid 19 liability relief and telehealth parity. In addition, the COS represented you during discussions with the Governor’s Office, Department of Insurance, Department of Public Health and CMS on all matters related to Covid 19 and the continuum of care to patients.
It is essential that orthopaedic surgeons continue to support the COS legislative agenda and our lobbyist by taking a pro-active approach in developing meaningful, effective relationships with members of the CT Legislature.
This is where you can help. You can be an important resource to legislators and other government officials on health care issues by responding to Action Alerts from the Society pertaining to state legislation, insurance policy matters and public health issues.
